Sheppard and McKay discover that their competitive video game has been controlling a planet of real people, who now stand on the brink of war.
John Sheppard and Rodney McKay go head-to-head in an Atlantis computer game, where they each develop SIMS-style villages on opposite sides of a river in competition with one another. For two years now McKay has been pushing his town ("Geldar") to develop technologically, and as a personal touch fashions their leader character, a beautiful woman named Nola, to look a bit like Samantha Carter. But what the two do not realize is that this is no game. Their villages, and all the people in them, are real, living on a planet somewhere in the Pegasus Galaxy. When the team discovers this and visits the planet through the Stargate, they are met by Nola, who immediately recognizes Rodney as their "Oracle." She explains that their people were given life thousands of years ago, but then their Oracle ceased all communications -- apparently a Lantean, interrupted by the war with the Wraith. Unknowingly, Rodney picked up where he left off.
With a satellite network in orbit to track their development and Ancient technology to communicate with Atlantis, their civilization has all the markings of a Lantean social experiment. While McKay stays with Nola, Sheppard takes Teyla and Ronon to check out his own country across the river.
There they meet Baden, the aggressive leader of Hallona, whom Sheppard had been encouraging to build up his military. He reveals that at the command of Geldar's Oracle, they have begun mining for valuable coal under his town. He believes that the proper response is to launch an attack.
The two leaders are brought back to Atlantis to learn about the Ancient technology and to have their dispute mediated by Dr. Weir, but things look grim. Thanks to Sheppard and McKay's "game," the two peoples now stand on the brink of war.

Planet Atlantis

The planet where Atlantis, the lost city of the Ancients, slumbered underwater for many thousands of years following the Ancients' devestating war with the Wraith. The war led to a Wraith assault on the planet -- which was the center of Ancient activity in the Pegasus Galaxy. Not long after the arrival of the Atlantis expedition from Earth, the city's power reached critical lows and an automated mechanism rose the city to the surface to prevent its destruction -- though it left the city vulnerable to attack from above.A large portion of the planet's surface is water, and the raised city now sits as an island amidst a great ocean. Near the city -- only 25 minutes away by Puddle Jumper -- is a large continent. After it was discovered, the Athosian refugees in Atlantis decided to resettle there, in order to start a new life in relative safety from the Wraith. They are still able to communicate with the city, where the planet's Stargate is located.
Lieutenant Aiden Ford has suggested the name "Atlantica" for the planet. HOME TO - Ancients, Atlantis expedition

Planet Gemii Home World

Planet in the Pegasus Galaxy, home to the Genii. Before the great awakening of the Wraith, there was a gap of decades between cullings. The Genii have used this precious time to develop their nuclear technology in concealed bunkers beneath the planet surface. It is here where the bunkers prevent numerous frequencies, including radio, from escaping. But the bunkers do not prevent the emissions of generators, which power their vast underground network, from escaping. If a culling is predicted before the Wraith achieve orbit, these generators can be deactivated in time before the Wraith can detect them, only putting the people on the surface at risk. The Genii Stargate is a short walk from their surface village.HOME TO - Genii

Planet Asuras

World designated by the Ancients to be the location where the developing Asuran race were allowed to thrive, following their explosion in evolutionary development. It is not known if the planet was originally the Ancient outpost where they were conceived, or if they were later moved from Atlantis for safety reasons. When the Ancients chose to abandon the project from which the Asurans came, they sent several warships to Asuras to completely destroy the colony (which had become a thriving city). But several nanites survived and managed to resurrect the city. Ten thousand years later, it is a bustling metropolis far grander than anything the Ancients ever created -- all based around a complete copy of Atlantis. The only reference to Asuras was their address, stored in a database within an Ancient outpost in the Pegasus Galaxy. HOME TO - Asurans

Planet Athos

Homeworld of the Athosians, a small agrarian population. Athos was routinely under siege by Wraith culling parties until John Sheppard evacuated Teyla's village to Atlantis for safe harbor following a Wraith attack. The Athosians regard the Ancients -- who likely first seeded their world with human life -- as "the ancestors," and they play an important role in Athosian religious beliefs. Not far from the Athosians' village is an ancient city which appears to possess more advanced technology than that which the Athosians retain in their nomadic village. Colonel Marshall Sumner and his team from Earth was unable to explore it before the Wraith attacked. Several kilometers from the village lies a hidden chamber where Teyla believes her decedents once hid from the Wraith. It is covered in writings and images depicting previous attacks. It is not known if any other Athosian villages remained behind on the planet following the most recent Wraith attack, after which the Athosians in Teyla's village relocated to Atlantis. HOME TO - Athosians

Planet Hoff

Planet in the Pegasus Galaxy, inhabited by a resolute people who are determined to perfect and complete a drug that will inhibit a Wraith's ability to feed. Before the Wraith awakening by Major John Sheppard, there was more than a 50 year gap between cullings on Hoff.Archives containing the accomplishments of the entire
civilization, stored in book form, are kept throughout the city. The odds are at least one library will survive following a culling so that future generations will be ableto continue to build on the accomplishments of those who came before.HOME TO - Hoffans

Planet M7G - 677

Planet in the Pegasus Galaxy, protected from the Wraith by a zero point module. The world once inhabited a settlement of advanced beings, perhaps ancients, who
eventually left the Z.P.M. emitting a shield over twelve inhabited villages. This shield prevents Wraith technology from working inside the field. Though they could enter and attack on foot, the Wraith are satiated by other feeding grounds and leave this planet's inhabitants alone.Ritual suicides by the villagers were only part of the equation for keeping the Wraith away, as their limited numbers prevented an outgrowth beyond the perimeter of the shield, but Dr. Rodney McKay successfully modified the Z.P.M. so that it could sustain a much larger area for approximately the next fifty years.HOME TO - Keras's people

STARGATE ATLANTIS SEASON THREE - ABOUT THE CAST ...

Lt Colonel John Sheppard

Major in the United States military and a highly skilled pilot with a checkered past, John Sheppard commands the flagship reconnaissance team from Earth's Atlantis base. He travelled to the Pegasus Galaxy with the Atlantis expedition under the command of Dr. Elizabeth Weir, and became the base's ranking military officer following the death of Colonel Marshall Sumner at the hands of the Wraith. He leads the base's flagship reconnaissance team in exploring other worlds through the Stargate.Sheppard was based at McMurdo Air Force Base -- possibly due to the black mark on his record -- and preferred the quiet of the Antarctic. He was assigned to fly General Jack O'Neill to the remains of the Ancient outpost to oversee the research team's latest developments. There he discovered that he possesses the rare gene that allows him to use Ancient technology -- and unlike most others who possess the gene, he is a natural at it. Weir emplored O'Neill to allow Sheppard to be a part of her team despite his record, tarnished for disobeying orders to save two teammates in Afghanistan.

Dr Elizabeth Weir

Commander of the Atlantis expedition to the Pegasus Galaxy. An expert in international politics, Dr. Weir is a civilian and a diplomat who is well known for mediating for the United Nations. When President Henry Hayes took office in 2004, he placed her in command of the S.G.C. after moving General George Hammond to a new position. After standing up to Vice President Kinsey and his agenda to take control of the Stargate program, Weir led a total review of the Stargate program over the following months.Upon the promotion of Jack O'Neill, Weir was transferred to the Ancient outpost of Atlantus, left behind in Antarctica when the city of Atlantis left the planet between five and 10 million years ago. When Daniel Jackson discovered the Stargate address for Atlantis, Weir led the pioneering team through the gate. Weir's work in diplomacy was referenced by Dr. Jackson when drafting the initial treaty for the Tok'ra-Earth alliance. She speaks five languages, including Russian and Latin (the latter of which is very similar to Ancient). PLAYED BY - Torri Higginson - Profile Picture Click Here

Dr Rodney Mckay

Arrogant and condescending by personality, McKay was insistent that the Stargate's crystal memory did not contain the remains of Teal'c, and pushed for the Stargate program to recommence immediately -- destroying any chance of rescuing the Jaffa.
McKay turned out to be wrong, and with aid from a Goa'uld Teal'c was recovered. After the incident, he was swiftly reassigned to Russia to advise their new naquadah reactor program. Carter was not sad to see him go. He returned less than a year later, when his services were required to solve yet another gate-related crisis at the S.G.C. McKay arrived to learn that the gate had been open long past its 38-minute limit; the Goa'uld Anubis was using a weapon to destroy the gate, and Earth along with it.With help from a somewhat hostile Major Carter -- whom he found both increasingly attractive and worthy of his respect -- they devised a plan to save Earth by sending the Stargate away from the planet through hyperspace PLAYED BY - David Hewlett -

Teyla Emmagan

Daughter of Tagan, and leader of the Athosians from the planet Athos. Teyla is cautious, and must get to know someone before trusting them. She found a special connection with Major John Sheppard upon meeting the humans of Earth for the very first time.Teyla and her people use the Stargate to visit many worlds in the Pegasus Galaxy, and she had never before encountered a culture that had not heard of the Wraith -- a terrifying enemy that has oppressed her people for generations, harvesting them to feed upon their life-force. Teyla is a strong and capable warrior, and a confident leader -- though she was reluctant to say goodbye to her people to remain in Atlantis with Sheppard's reconnaissance team. While returning with Sheppard from a hidden sanctuary where her ancestors once hid from the Wraith, Teyla herself was kidnapped in a culling beam and taken to the Wraith hive ship on the Wraith homeworld. She was later rescued by Sheppard and Lieutenant Aiden Ford.Teyla returned to Atlantis and met even more humans from the Tau'ri, eventually establishing a colony there for her people. She dedicated her services to helping seek out new allies for the humans now based in the Pegasus Galaxy, and her experience with other cultures makes her an ideal guide for the humans from Earth. Teyla also possesses an extra-sensory awareness of the Wraith when they are near. PLAYED BY - Rachel Luttrell - Profile Picture Click Here

Dr Beckett

Biologist and chief medical doctor at Earth's Atlantis base in the Pegasus Galaxy. Beckett was originally assigned as a representative from Scotland to the Ancient outpost in the Antarctic, where it was discovered that he possessed a rare gene from the Ancients that allows him to use their technology. In fact, it was Beckett who discovered the gene necessary to operate many Ancient devices.Despite the fact that Beckett himself is not especially technologically inclined, Dr. Rodney McKay forced him into the outpost's command chair in the hopes of learning something more about the technology. Beckett accidentally activated a dormant drone weapon, but was able to shut it back down before it harmed General O'Neill and Major Sheppard as they traveled toward the base in a helicopter. A member of the expedition under the command of Elizabeth Weir, Beckett traveled through the Stargate to Atlantis. One of his first duties was to dissect a severed Wraith arm that Sheppard brought back from Athos after the creature's Dart was shot down. PLAYED BY - Paul McGillion - Profile Picture Click Here

Ronon Dex

Once a military soldier on the planet Sateda, Specialist Ronon Dex became a runner when the Wraith took him from his home. Ronon defended his world during a devestating Wraith culling seven years ago, but was swept up in a culling beam. He was taken aboard a hive ship, but when a Wraith attempted to feed on him something forced it to stop. Instead of dying as food, Ronon was made a runner: The Wraith implanted a transmitter in his back and let him go, hunting him across many worlds for sport, for training, or for some other, unknown reason. Ronon possesses a gun with both stun and kill settings. A cunning and skilled warrior, he hunted his hunters, killing many Wraith. But he could never return home, nor could he stay in one place for too long. Once, when he stopped to eat a meal and get a night's sleep in a village, the Wraith showed up the next day and destroyed it. PLAYED BY - Jason Momoa - Profile Picture Click Here
