| | | STARGATE ATLANTIS SEASON THREE EPISODES Sunday. |
 | The team tries to relax during a mandatory day off, until an explosion leaves three people dead -- and reveals that one scientist is a walking time bomb. "There's an episode that I want to do but it's not really a Stargate episode. But I feel like it doesn't really belong -- I'd love to do a Stargate episode that has no jeopardy at all, that is just a Sunday afternoon, essentially, kind of speaking to that off-duty thing, and in vignettes about each character in their off time. Basically five short films about each character. But I'll probably never do it, to be honest. Brad is more adventurous than any of us with the types of stories that he wants to try and tell. It's got to feel like a Stargate. It's got to have that science fiction for a science fiction show. The shows don't work without a certain amount of jeopardy, I think. So I don't know. It's on the shelf. ... I'll figure it out someday."It's a typical Sunday in the city of Atlantis, as Dr. Elizabeth Weir and her people go about their everyday business. A handsome young scientist, Mike Branton, finds Elizabeth at work in her office on her day off.Mike is obviously smitten with the expedition's leader, and is fighting an uphill battle when he tries to convince her to go to lunch with him. Elizabeth has a personal rule against dating people under her, but Mike persuades her that there's nothing wrong with eating lunch at the same table.During their "not a date" the charming man begins to wear down her shields, and even kisses her. She seems attracted to him, but decides she can't allow a potential romance to bloom. She's saved from the awkward situation when the control tower radios her: There has been an explosion in the city. Three people are dead and more are injured, and they believe it may have been a bomb. NEW! January 14 - "That's going to be an awfully good episode and one that every fan needs to watch. I don't think I should say much more than that. "Part of me likes this story a great deal, while part of me was challenged significantly by it because essentially it's a day off for our people, and the truth is, drama is driven by everyday things we have to do. It's that urgency that drives drama, but when you have a day off, by its definition there is literally no urgency. For 'Sunday' we shot these scenes that felt a little bizarre because Sheppard and the others are dressed in their civilian clothes and hanging out, making small talk, drinking beer, playing golf, etc., and generally goofing off."So that's the basic set-up. They have no deadlines, they're kicking back, it's Sunday, time to chill out ... or is it? Oops, guess not. The action obviously then picks up, but filming those off-duty moments was an unusual challenge to say the least." (Actor Joe Flanigan, in an interview with Starburst magazine [#346, January 2007]) |

| Ships Puddle Jumper | Cylindrical, multi-purpose craft created by the Ancients, and aerodynamically designed for transportation through Stargates. Each mid-sized ship is armed with at least six drone weapons, hidden in drive pods that emerge from the ship's rear port and starboard sides. The drive pods themselves offer additional maneuverability and speed, and must be retracted into the sides of the ship in order for the vessel to fit through a Stargate. The Puddle Jumper (nicknamed by Major John Sheppard -- its true Ancient name is unknown) possesses an invisibility shield that, when engaged, makes the craft invisible to the naked eye and to advanced sensors. The cloak may be engaged when the ship is in flight, or when it had landed and powered down.A large view port occupies the ship's forward section, with a smaller port at the stern for individuals in the back. The ship can support roughly a dozen individuals in the event of a rescue (including seats for the pilot and co-pilot in the forward compartment), though this is not recommended for extended travel time. There are no rest facilities aboard the craft, nor are there any emergency escape pods. A partition may be lowered to separate the forward and rear compartments, and the rear contains junctions by which basic ship functions, such as drive pod control, may be accessed. The Jumper flees a Wraith attack. From "Thirty Eight Minutes" Though the Puddle Jumper can be piloted by hand controls, these may be secondary, as the craft interfaces with the mind of the pilot. On-screen geographical readouts as well as relevant technology may be immediately put at a pilot's disposal with a simple thought. A center console sits between the pilot and co-pilot seats and includes a modified dial-home device, allowing the ship to directly access a nearby Stargate and dial an address. Automated systems guide the ship through the event horizon when the ship draws within a few meters of the gate. The craft is capable of impressive speeds -- but perhaps even more impressive are the breaking thrusters, which can bring the craft to a dead halt upon arriving through the Stargate into an extremely tight space, such as the Atlantis gate room. The ship must also therefore possess advanced intertial dampeners for the safety and comfort of its occupants. The command tower in the city of Atlantis is equipped with at least one bay filled with Puddle Jumpers.USED BY - Ancients, Humans | Ships Daedalus | The second generation of interstellar space craft developed by the United States military and its allies. Commanded by Colonel Steven Caldwell, her original mission was to render aid to the Atlantis expedition trapped in the Pegasus Galaxy and defeat a convoy of Wraith hive ships bent on destroying the Ancient city. The Daedalus is armed with rail guns, Mark-8 tactical warheads and a bay of F-302 fighters. It also possesses Asgard shielding and transporter technology, but none of their weapons. To assure that these technologies are not abused an Asgard presence is aboard the ship at all times in the form of an engineering expert from their species. Presently that role is given to the Asgard Hermiod.Propulsion consists of standard thrusters as well as an Asgard hyperdrive engine, capable of traveling one way between Earth and Atlantis in 18 days. The ship's primary mission is now to ferry personnel and supplies from Earth to Atlantis, and then to travel back again, but the Daedalus often stays in the vicinity of Atlantis for some time before making another loop.BRIDGE The Daedalus has several upgrades over the Prometheus, but the bridge layout is relatively similar. The forward view port is wider to allow a greater visual field. This is particularly useful during battle situations, allowing several officers to make suggestions about how to proceed further without obstructing the captain's chair. A weapons officer sits to the right of the captain; a helmsman is to the left.ENGINEERING Engineering deck has several control panels specifically rigged for Asgard operators. A viewport overlooking the Asgard hyperdrive can be found at the aft end of the chamber. The engine room can accommodate a dozen personnel at any given time. Tasks from systems diagnostics to the deployment of weapons can be carried out here FLIGHT DECKT The Daedalus possesses a complete compliment of F-302 fighter craft. Though the ship has two hangar bays all of the fighters occupy the starboard flight deck, perhaps meaning that the port deck serves as a re-entry bay when a skirmish must end quickly. Asgard shields can extend around the hangar doors in the event the flight deck is occupied while decompression procedures are scheduled to commence .OFFICER'S MESS Because the Daedalus is designed for extensive deep-space voyages, an officer's mess is available to off-duty personnel. It is located on the port side of the ship and offers a view port into space. Hot coffee and perhaps other drinks are available in the mess, no matter the time of day. USED BY - Humans | Ships Wraith Dart | Small, ear-splitting interceptor craft piloted by at least one Wraith, though the exact numbers accommodated by each ship are not known. Each craft is capable of incredible speeds, and can travel from world to world through Stargates. Darts discharge the same blue paralyzing beams as that of standard Wraith stunner rifles. The Wraith Dart can make its presence known by the way it sounds -- a deafening, high-pitched noise as it races by. It is equipped with a culling beam that transports targets to the ship and saves them in some form, be it energy or stasis in a cargo hold, to be returned to the hive ship for consumption by the hungry species. USED BY - Wraith | Ships Wraith Hive Ship | A massive Wraith mothership, home to an untold number of Wraith who hibernate for centuries at a time. The large ships are capable of interstellar travel and of landing on the surface of a planet. Most of the hive ship first encountered by the Atlantis team was concealed beneath the surface of their homeworld -- so much so that they did not realize it was a ship at all. It sat undisturbed on the surface for so long that tall trees grew on its dorsal surface. Only the Keeper and a small number of Wraith warriors were on guard to defend the sleeping race; when the Keeper was killed, the sleeping creatures began to awaken. Michael's hive orbits Lantea. From "Allies." The craft contains untold numbers of hibernation pods, and is equipped with at least one holding cell for individuals awaiting an audience with the Wraith before their life-force is consumed. There are at least 21 hive ships in the same quadrant of the Pegasus Galaxy that Atlantis is in, and at least 60 in total.USED BY - Wraith | Ships Wraith Cruiser | Escort carrier for Wraith hive ships, substantially smaller in size compared to their counterparts. Carriers are armed with a number of Wraith weapons, but do not appear to have Dart bays (If the hive ship is destroyed the Darts make kamikaze runs). In the event that all escorted hive ships are defeated the cruisers typically enter hyperspace to rejoin another fleet. It is not known if the ships are also required to make hyperspace "pit stops" like the hive ships.USED BY - Wraith | Ships Warship Ancients | Class of Ancient vessel in service during the first siege of Atlantis. The craft are defended with powerful shields and hyperspace engines, are armed with Ancient drones. Two ships of this class have been discovered, the Aurora and the Hippaforalkus, later renamed "Orion" USED BY - Ancients, humans |

| | STARGATE ATLANTIS SEASON THREE - ABOUT THE CAST ... | |
| Lt Colonel John Sheppard | Major in the United States military and a highly skilled pilot with a checkered past, John Sheppard commands the flagship reconnaissance team from Earth's Atlantis base. He travelled to the Pegasus Galaxy with the Atlantis expedition under the command of Dr. Elizabeth Weir, and became the base's ranking military officer following the death of Colonel Marshall Sumner at the hands of the Wraith. He leads the base's flagship reconnaissance team in exploring other worlds through the Stargate.Sheppard was based at McMurdo Air Force Base -- possibly due to the black mark on his record -- and preferred the quiet of the Antarctic. He was assigned to fly General Jack O'Neill to the remains of the Ancient outpost to oversee the research team's latest developments. There he discovered that he possesses the rare gene that allows him to use Ancient technology -- and unlike most others who possess the gene, he is a natural at it. Weir emplored O'Neill to allow Sheppard to be a part of her team despite his record, tarnished for disobeying orders to save two teammates in Afghanistan. PLAYED BY - Joe Flanigan - Profile Picture Click Here | Dr Elizabeth Weir | Commander of the Atlantis expedition to the Pegasus Galaxy. An expert in international politics, Dr. Weir is a civilian and a diplomat who is well known for mediating for the United Nations. When President Henry Hayes took office in 2004, he placed her in command of the S.G.C. after moving General George Hammond to a new position. After standing up to Vice President Kinsey and his agenda to take control of the Stargate program, Weir led a total review of the Stargate program over the following months.Upon the promotion of Jack O'Neill, Weir was transferred to the Ancient outpost of Atlantus, left behind in Antarctica when the city of Atlantis left the planet between five and 10 million years ago. When Daniel Jackson discovered the Stargate address for Atlantis, Weir led the pioneering team through the gate. Weir's work in diplomacy was referenced by Dr. Jackson when drafting the initial treaty for the Tok'ra-Earth alliance. She speaks five languages, including Russian and Latin (the latter of which is very similar to Ancient). PLAYED BY - Torri Higginson - Profile Picture Click Here | Dr Rodney Mckay | Arrogant and condescending by personality, McKay was insistent that the Stargate's crystal memory did not contain the remains of Teal'c, and pushed for the Stargate program to recommence immediately -- destroying any chance of rescuing the Jaffa. McKay turned out to be wrong, and with aid from a Goa'uld Teal'c was recovered. After the incident, he was swiftly reassigned to Russia to advise their new naquadah reactor program. Carter was not sad to see him go. He returned less than a year later, when his services were required to solve yet another gate-related crisis at the S.G.C. McKay arrived to learn that the gate had been open long past its 38-minute limit; the Goa'uld Anubis was using a weapon to destroy the gate, and Earth along with it.With help from a somewhat hostile Major Carter -- whom he found both increasingly attractive and worthy of his respect -- they devised a plan to save Earth by sending the Stargate away from the planet through hyperspace PLAYED BY - David Hewlett - Profile Picture Click Here | Teyla Emmagan | Daughter of Tagan, and leader of the Athosians from the planet Athos. Teyla is cautious, and must get to know someone before trusting them. She found a special connection with Major John Sheppard upon meeting the humans of Earth for the very first time.Teyla and her people use the Stargate to visit many worlds in the Pegasus Galaxy, and she had never before encountered a culture that had not heard of the Wraith -- a terrifying enemy that has oppressed her people for generations, harvesting them to feed upon their life-force. Teyla is a strong and capable warrior, and a confident leader -- though she was reluctant to say goodbye to her people to remain in Atlantis with Sheppard's reconnaissance team. While returning with Sheppard from a hidden sanctuary where her ancestors once hid from the Wraith, Teyla herself was kidnapped in a culling beam and taken to the Wraith hive ship on the Wraith homeworld. She was later rescued by Sheppard and Lieutenant Aiden Ford.Teyla returned to Atlantis and met even more humans from the Tau'ri, eventually establishing a colony there for her people. She dedicated her services to helping seek out new allies for the humans now based in the Pegasus Galaxy, and her experience with other cultures makes her an ideal guide for the humans from Earth. Teyla also possesses an extra-sensory awareness of the Wraith when they are near. PLAYED BY - Rachel Luttrell - Profile Picture Click Here | Dr Beckett | Biologist and chief medical doctor at Earth's Atlantis base in the Pegasus Galaxy. Beckett was originally assigned as a representative from Scotland to the Ancient outpost in the Antarctic, where it was discovered that he possessed a rare gene from the Ancients that allows him to use their technology. In fact, it was Beckett who discovered the gene necessary to operate many Ancient devices.Despite the fact that Beckett himself is not especially technologically inclined, Dr. Rodney McKay forced him into the outpost's command chair in the hopes of learning something more about the technology. Beckett accidentally activated a dormant drone weapon, but was able to shut it back down before it harmed General O'Neill and Major Sheppard as they traveled toward the base in a helicopter. A member of the expedition under the command of Elizabeth Weir, Beckett traveled through the Stargate to Atlantis. One of his first duties was to dissect a severed Wraith arm that Sheppard brought back from Athos after the creature's Dart was shot down. PLAYED BY - Paul McGillion - Profile Picture Click Here | Ronon Dex | Once a military soldier on the planet Sateda, Specialist Ronon Dex became a runner when the Wraith took him from his home. Ronon defended his world during a devestating Wraith culling seven years ago, but was swept up in a culling beam. He was taken aboard a hive ship, but when a Wraith attempted to feed on him something forced it to stop. Instead of dying as food, Ronon was made a runner: The Wraith implanted a transmitter in his back and let him go, hunting him across many worlds for sport, for training, or for some other, unknown reason. Ronon possesses a gun with both stun and kill settings. A cunning and skilled warrior, he hunted his hunters, killing many Wraith. But he could never return home, nor could he stay in one place for too long. Once, when he stopped to eat a meal and get a night's sleep in a village, the Wraith showed up the next day and destroyed it. PLAYED BY - Jason Momoa - Profile Picture Click Here |
